CouchSurfing - Pavel & Marjorie (and more news).

It's been a while since we posted here, not because we were lazy, but because we were a bit busy these days.

Since the last entry, several things happened:

*We've hosted a very nice couple from France: Pavel and Marjorie.
It was their first experience as surfers and we were glad to be their first hosts.
From them, we learned about Iceland with its amazing unearthly appearance and the natural hot water pools. Also, we've discovered that Bucharest and Paris are related, not only through the illumination system, Arc the Triomphe, Charles de Gaulle plaza (Bucharest being called the little Paris); but also through the "crotte de chien" (dog poo) on the sidewalks..
Beside comparing nations, we played an interesting society game, which we enjoied a lot and, in the end, it convinced us to buy some similar games.
Pavel and Marjorie were interested in the pottery classes, so they got the chance to get their hands dirty. Afterward, the clay creations (abstract ones, as Pavel said) accompanied them back to France.

A couple o wow's coming :) :
*Andra had a TV recording in the pottery workshop; she also had an article in the evening paper, dedicated to her work on Christmas decorations;

*Andra recovered her stolen Iphone (which had a sentimental value - as a present from Bitdefender - for her hard work).
Having it back was a totally unexpected surprise, compliments to the Romanian police for the great work!

*And finally, the first real snow completely covered the ground and now it really feels like holidays season.
Since yesterday, that first blanked of snow turned into a menace for both drivers and pedestrians, due to heavy snowing.
It is still better than not having snow at all.
With this ocasion, some friends of ours (Andu and Ioana) made us "an offer that we couldn't refuse" :), and, on Saturday, we'll all be heading to the mountain area for some skiing.

Wish us luck and no broken arms or legs :)

Couchsurfing - Bucket and Spade - Australia.

We have had a very interesting couple of days, with our latest Australian guests: Dwayne and Brenton, who have been traveling the world for the past two and a half months.

The guys arrived during the week, on Thursday night, and because Andra had to leave the city on Friday, we bombarded them from the first day, with questions, and talked until late at night about all the places they've been so far.

Their day time was spent visiting the city, while in the evening, the guitars and the God of War game represented the main attractions.

Dwayne looked quite natural with the guitar, and he also seemed to have a nice voice. Maybe next time, I'll have a piano for Brenton as well; and the three of us can have a concert :).

Here are some photos taken while the two of them took terms in completing a special mini game from God of War ;)

Some other pics:
At a hair salon.

Laughing at those HUGE luggage, and comparing them to my size :).

Having fun with the pink slippers (it tends to become a tradition).

Overall, it was a very interesting experience and, in the end, we also got a surprise "thank you" note.
Wasn't expecting that; thanks guys for making our day!

Couchsurfing - our very first guest.

The last two days were pretty full for us, as we hosted for the first time a couch surfer (Joel, who is traveling the world right now).

Because the couch was occupied by my mother, whom is visiting us, we accommodated Joel in my room from the university campus. And every evening, after finishing the work schedule, me and Joel took a motorcycle ride to our apartment, for a warm meal and hours of talking :).
After more than one year on the road, Joel had quite a few useful advices and funny stories.

Here are two pictures with him:
- first one taken while he was busy shooting some enemies in the Crysis game.
- second one in the kitchen while we were making fun of the pink slippers - the only available pair we had for him (I actually wore them one evening as well - and gave him mine, just to be fair with the guy :) ).
