Cappadocia - part II (meeting locals, trying pottery kebab and making pottery).

Beside just hiking, we also experienced some other interesting things while in Goreme village:

First, the day I started feeling sick, we searched for a place to eat a good soup, hoping it will help my condition.
We ended up in a cozy restaurant being run by a family. Although there was a huge language barrier and we barely understood each-other, we had a great time with the four old women preparing "ravioli".
While I ate soup and drank two coups of "çay" (tea - pronounced "ceai"), Andra joined in preparing that dish together with the old ladies.

A short summer rain caught us inside the restaurant, so we stayed there until it stopped half an hour later.

New wheel in town!

During the last week-end, Andra brought from home (Horezu) a custom pottery wheel, for her classes.
"Custom" stands for a bit smaller size than the average pottery wheels, and for the fact that it can be almost completely disassembled and reassembled, when needed.

Last night we took a couple of hours to put together all the pieces and have it ready for work.
There was a lot of noise coming from knocking things with a hammer, because a few pieces had to be convinced to fit in; so, now we're glad that there were no complains from the neighbors :).
In the heat of the moment, we completely forgot to take pictures while working on the big puzzle, but we took some after we began reshaping two clods of clay:

So, starting from now, Andra's apprentices can acquire first hand experience in creating pottery, and also, future couch-surfers will have the opportunity to learn more about clay modeling and traditional pottery.

Home sweet home.

Since last week, we've been two busy bees and moved together in an apartment (rented). So, now, we're settling in and making plans for the future.

First change. Couchsurfing profile update, a good news for all the couch-surfers who wish to visit Bucharest: we have a private room with an expandable couch ready for surfing :).

Second change.
Well, since Andra currently doesn't have time to post here, I'll break the news about the hobby turned into a sharing experience :).
We are currently making preparations for pottery classes which will be held by Andra, who is quite an expert in the field. More information can be found on her blog: http://cursurimodelaj.blogspot.com/

That's all for now, folks.
